Student Hubs of Convergence

Led by student representatives, SHoC represents a vibrant student-driven initiative within the Hubs of Convergence, based at Nelson Mandela University. Operating across the university’s seven campuses and student residences, SHoC plays a key role in mobilising students—particularly those in senior residences—to engage meaningfully in social impact and personal development.

Their focus includes raising awareness around sexual assault, expanding the EPPP (Engaged, Participatory, Peer-led Programmes) initiative, and supporting both the UNV (United Nations Volunteers) and Alumni programmes. SHoC also advances student leadership through the THRV Student Chapter and nurtures creative expression via The Writing Club.

Despite budget and capacity constraints, SHoC remains committed to consistently supporting projects that empower students and strengthen the university community.
